It can’t be denied that there is a quite well-defined Classic route around the country, heading from Windhoek in a circular fashion through Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Damaraland and Etosha. Even though this route is hardly blazing any new trails, it works incredibly well and still offers several very diverse experiences, so for the first time visitor we often suggest not straying too far away from it. Namibia is perfectly suited to the self-driver, though there is a network of light aircraft flights across the country for those with a bit more to spend.
