Day 1
Fly overnight to Johannesburg.
Day 2
Connect with a short onward flight to Windhoek, where you'll be greeted and driven to your hotel in the suburbs. Your 4WD hire car will be delivered this afternoon and you'll be briefed on the routes and driving in Namibia. This evening you might want to sample Joe's Beerhouse or The Olive Restaurant, two very different Windhoek dining options!
Day 3
This morning you'll set off south for a drive on the B1 to the Southern Kalahari region. Here you will stay for one night at a cosy accommodation just outside Mariental, enjoying the stark landscapes of the desert.
Day 4
A long drive south west to the Fish River Canyon, where you'll spend two nights in a great location to discover this natural wonder.
Day 5
A full day to explore the Fish River Canyon, whether by vehicle or in a day hike within the great chasm itself.
Day 6
North east on the C13 today, a stunning drive on which you'll see very few other cars or people. Arriving at your accommodation on the Gondwana Concession just outside Aus, you will stay for three nights to explore this unique region.
Day 7
Today you might want to book a day excursion into the remote Sperrgebiet National Park. Largely undiscovered and inaccessible in many areas, visitors are now permitted to explore sections of Namibia's newest national park. Alternatively, a guided nature drive in the Gondwana Concession is included in your stay.
Day 8
Another day to explore the south western desert area. There are wild horses in the Namib Desert which can be spotted on drives, plus the remains of First World War POW camps and some Commonwealth war graves.
Day 9
Today you will drive west to Kolmanskop, an abandoned German diamond mining settlement. You can spend the morning exploring this eerie, evocative outpost, its colonial mansions and administrative buildings slowly being submerged by the desert sands. Guided tours are available on most days at 9.30 and 11.00, while the site closes after 1pm. In the afternoon you'll drive east and then north to Helmeringhausen for a one night stay.
Day 10
Another drive north today, to the Namib Naukluft area for a two night stay in a scenic spot between the desert and the mountains.
Day 11
A full day to explore the dunes of Sossusvlei, perhaps including an ascent of Dune 45, a walk on the ethereal Dead Vlei and a visit to Sesriem Canyon.
Day 12
After breakfast you will head into the Naukluft Mountains for a one night stay in a comfortable guesthouse. This afternoon you might want to enjoy an unguided hike or just relax and admire the rugged landscapes.
Day 13
An early start for the drive back to Windhoek, where you'll drop your car off at the airport. After a short flight to Johannesburg, your journey home will travel through the night.
Day 14
Arrive in the UK.

Some of Namibia’s most spectacular southern scenery and intriguing historical sites can be overlooked in conventional itineraries, mainly due to their isolation and the long travelling distances involved. The Fish River Canyon has been labelled as the world’s second largest canyon and can now be explored from a selection of comfortable bases. Luderitz and the haunting abandoned town of Kolmanskop provide a glimpse into Namibia’s colonial past, while the differing desert climes of the Kalahari and the Namib are also intimately explored.
