Day 1
Fly overnight to Johannesburg.
Day 2
Connect with a short onward flight to Windhoek, where you'll be greeted and driven to your hotel in the suburbs. Your 4WD hire car will be delivered this afternoon and you'll be briefed on the routes and driving in Namibia. This evening you might want to sample Joe's Beerhouse, an extremely family-friendly place to grab a steak or burger.
Day 3
Driving north today, you'll stop at the private Okonjima reserve for a guided afternoon introduction to the Africat Foundation and its majestic big cats. After the activity, it's a short drive north-east for a one night stay at a friendly lodge.
Day 4
Today it's on to Etosha, for a two night stay in a family chalet at one of the government operated restcamps inside the park. The waterhole wildlife action here is simply sensational – without you having to move a muscle!
Day 5
You can explore Etosha under your own steam, but you might also want to book a guided afternoon/evening game drive.
Day 6
Today's drive takes you south to Damaraland, where you'll stay for two nights at a laid-back lodge styled as an African village. Children will love the swimming pool and the various arty scarecrows within the grounds!
Day 7
You can drive yourself to the intriguing ancient rock paintings at Twyfelfontein, and you might want to book a guided nature drive to search for desert adapted wildlife.
Day 8
South to Swakopmund today, a friendly town with varied activities to suit all of the family during your three night stay.
Day 9
There will be time to explore Swakopmund today, and a guided living desert excursion is included within your itinerary.
Day 10
Today you will get onto the waters of the Atlantic on a catamaran cruise. Should you wish to book any further activities in advance, just let us know.
Day 11
The drive south to the heart of the Namib Desert will take close to five hours, and here you will spend two nights in a welcoming guesthouse close to the imposing dunes of Sossusvlei.
Day 12
You can drive yourself to Dune 45 and the alien landscapes of Dead Vlei today, with the possibility of also dropping by at Sesriem Canyon.
Day 13
A drive north for a one night stay at a relaxed guestfarm close to the Gamsberg Pass. The swimming pool, unguided hikes and superb mountain views are enticing here.
Day 14
An early start for breakfast and the drive back to Windhoek airport. After handing in your keys, it's a short flight to Johannesburg and an overnight journey home.
Day 15
Arrive in the UK.

Climbing huge orange dunes, kayaking in the Atlantic with seals leaping over your boat, watching elephants come to drink at waterholes and getting unfeasibly close to relatively tame cheetah and leopard. This sounds like a dream holiday for young adventurers, and Namibia’s family friendly highlights have now been bolstered with various accommodations aimed at families. And with no malaria in the main hotspots, Namibia represents the perfect family introduction to Africa.
