More communal and slightly less isolated than its sister Gondwana property, Eagle’s Nest Chalets, Desert Horse Inn is nevertheless scenic and comfortable. There are 24 spacious, recently refurbished en-suite rooms, with neutral colour schemes and ceiling fans to keep them cool amidst the desert heat. Views from the wooden deck in front of the hotel are excellent and it is a great place to pick up tips on driving and attractions in the area. Kolmanskop is little more than 50 miles away and there are Commonwealth War Graves to visit nearby, while drives and walks within the Gondwana Park are picturesque and tranquil. Furthermore, Desert Horse is probably the best bet for any families visiting this remote area.
