The Kalahari Farmhouse offers comfortable, good value accommodation in an excellent location, an attractive combination for which the Gondwana Collection is renowned. Located north east of Mariental, close to the small town of Stampriet, there are 11 spacious stone chalets with thatch roofs overlooking fertile farming fields in a valley of the seasonal Auob River. The reception and dining room are in a manor building constructed over 50 years ago, where the kitchen utilises fresh produce from the working farm next door. There is a swimming pool to relax and refresh from the Kalahari heat, or for more active guests there are tours of the farming business and guided nature drives into the nearby Gondwana Kalahari Park.

The chalets are perhaps not as sensitively integrated with the desert environs as other Southern Kalahari options, but the colonial style is pleasant and they are very cool and comfortable. With a convenient location between Windhoek and the Fish River Canyon, the Kalahari Farmhouse is great for one night stopovers or two nights of relaxation at the beginning or end of a southern self-drive itinerary.
