Pleasantly located in the suburbs just outside the city centre, Rivendell Guesthouse provides a warm welcome to Namibia at a highly agreeable price. There is a selection of room types, with some en-suite doubles and twins, others with shared bathrooms, and a self-contained flat that is excellent for families. All of the rooms are simply furnished but comfortable and airy, with sliding doors that permit plenty of sunlight to get in during the day.

There is a swimming pool, a lounge in the main house where guests can relax with a book and a terrace where tasty cooked and continental breakfasts can be enjoyed. This is an excellent choice for travellers about to embark on a self-drive trip, as there is a secure parking area and the English owners and their local staff are always available for helpful driving tips, restaurant recommendations and general chat about Namibia. Although not as luxurious as some of Windhoek’s newer, boutique properties, Rivendell is perfect for a relaxing overnight stay.
