A simple, friendly little place in the northern suburbs of Swakopmund, the Sandfields Guesthouse is an excellent option for families and those looking for good value, unpretentious accommodation. There are just five en-suite rooms, two of which are larger and offer a bath tub in the en-suite. All have cable TV, a safe and a delightful open wood-burning fireplace, which is perfect for the cooler months when Swakopmund’s sea breezes can make their presence felt. Wooden floors and furnishings contrast with crisp white bedspreads and sheets, while light blue cushions and fabrics provide a classical seaside aesthetic.
Children and families are made to feel extremely welcome here, with a play area in the gardens and lots of advice on offer regarding activities that will suit all age groups. There is a spacious central lounge opening out to the gardens, where continental breakfasts are served and evening drinks can be enjoyed by the impressive fireplace in winter. The beach is a very short walk away, although you might choose to drive to the centre and back, particularly during the evening. With secure off-street parking, a laundry service and wireless internet available, the Sandfields has everything that a family or a couple not concerned with overt luxury could ask for.
